Through the entirety of the ugly 2016 General election, then candidate Trump beat a constant drum that Hillary Clinton was every sort of a criminal. To be sure, there were those who believed that a twice divorced white nationalist, serial philanderer and grifter with multiple bankruptcies, a history of business failures and a no contact order with the truth was the right scoundrel for the job, but he would need more than his disciples. To win the Presidency he would need a significant number of people to vote, not for him, but against Hillary. The tribal rhythm he pounded out set the trolls into a focused frenzy of recruitment. While his rants were mostly about her private email server, other trolls used whatever candy they could find to lead folks to the cave and in many cases to the altar.

The Democrats squandered the hand they were dealt in 2009, choosing incremental change instead of attempting broad and truly progressive leaps when they had the chance. Republicans bluffed – as they do – and it paid off for them, for a while. The election of 2016 put the Republicans in a position where they finally had to show their cards. Turned out they were holding a lone joker and calling it an ace. Let’s hope the Democrats learned from that hand of cards.
The most charitable thing to do with a political mailer is to carry it carefully by one corner to the nearest trash can and drop it in. Sure it’s a burden on the landfill but it is going to end up there anyway. No point in leaving it lie around to infect you or others
The south was so unpropitious toward change, so rooted in sameness, so antipathetic to the thought that the “Negro People” deserve humanity that they simply did not care what the the robed folks in D.C. said. The god fearing racists in the south shrugged their shoulders and went on about polishing the white privilege they protected.
The effluent aficionados have found their man in Greg Gianforte. Maybe it’s his record of fighting public access that they think will be useful to them? Or, could it be his belief that the peons who must smell the cesspool from beyond the fence should work until they die? Most likely it is because they have found a kindred spirit in the New Jersey native. After all he has proved that he supports the smelly mess by anteing plenty of his own money to protect the flow of dark money and shield the stinkers who dish it out from prying eyes.
